Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute import and export strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and compliant trade operations.
- Manage the entire import and export process, including documentation, customs clearance, logistics, and compliance with international trade regulations.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, shipping agencies, and freight forwarders to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, procurement, and finance teams, to ensure alignment and smooth flow of goods.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, changes in import/export regulations, and international trade practices to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers, ensuring favorable agreements and cost-effective sourcing.
- Conduct market research and identify potential new suppliers and markets to expand import/export opportunities.
- Manage and lead a team of import/export specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and documentation standards, including the preparation of necessary permits and licenses.
- Maintain accurate records of import/export activities, financial transactions, and shipping documentation.
- Resolve any issues or delays in import/export processes, coordinating with relevant parties to find timely solutions.
- Monitor and optimize logistics operations to minimize costs and enhance overall efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in international trade, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Additional certifications in import/export management are advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing imports and exports, preferably within the general trading industry with a focus on oil and gas, food, and metal.
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and industry-specific requirements.
- Proven experience in negotiating contracts, managing suppliers, and optimizing logistics operations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the aptitude to identify and resolve complex trade-related challenges.
- Proficient in using trade management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across different cultures and regions.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in managing documentation and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with the oil and gas industry, including knowledge of relevant products, suppliers, and market dynamics.
- Proactive and result-oriented mindset, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Additional language skills are a plus.
